Living True to Ourselves

SEALA 1, DAY 4 PART I

Day 4, and it's another warm and sparkling day in Chennai –  for evidence of which it's not even necessary to look out the window, since Su and Navneet produce all the sunshine one could hope for indoors (notwithstanding the hotel's Himalayan air conditioning). Su = sun and Navneet = sparkle.

How do we really make decisions, asks Jim Crupi, in view of the competing and conflicting interests and loyalties that we have to contend with? Leaders need to be as conscious as possible about the complex forces influencing their own behavior, and the behavior of those around them.

1. Observe 2. Orient  3. Decide  4. Act.
Start by observing intently. Tanu demonstrates.

Andrea's session introduces the concept of "organizational integrity" as a key to achieving organizational health. But at its core is the importance of individuals operating "in integrity," living true to themselves and performing as intended and promised.

Ravi and Mike share their commitments to operate in integrity.

Shadab and Raj have penetrated the essence of SEALA: trusted peers supporting one another in integrity and towards excellence.

Anand welcomes honored guest speaker Capt. C. P. Krishnan Nair, Chairman of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts.

Capt. Nair describes vignettes and lessons from his extraordinary life, culminating in his supreme vision and determination to create the Leela luxury hotel brand.

Questions from the audience.

Thanking Capt. Nair for an inspiring and illuminating afternoon in the beautiful Leela Palace Chennai.

We disperse into breakout groups for a session on Current Challenges, but the day is far from over. One of the paramount challenges of the program looms before us this evening: the SEALA 1 Cultural Exchange. Will we quail on the path and turn back halfway? Or will we sing and dance in integrity and scale the heights of excellence? Will we quail, will we fail, will we bail  or will we scale? Only Part II can tell!
